First Attempt: "Little Cute Humanoid"

This week we have begin brainstorm our idea for our final project. This week, our lecture has give us time to develop our project. So, this is our first attempt for our final project.

Theme: Entertainment

Concept:

This week, our group has built the robot named "Little Cute Humanoid". this is our first idea for the final project. This robot function as entertainment to the target group as stated above. it also can perform several special tasks such as walk with two legs, can sense the line and follow it properly. besides that, it also can move wherever you want by setting it with the suitable programming because it have ultrasonic sensor. We got the idea from one of the sample in internet and we have made some adjustment in its program
ming and its design.

Problems:

As we go on in the assemble process, we have encounter some problems such as we did not have enough components and we have some difficulty on assembling the parts. besides that, the design also have some problems in functionality which its legs cannot move smoothly. it seems lik
e the leg of out robot is heavy so that it cannot move smoothly.

Solutions:

However, we can overcome the problems. We have borrowed the components from other groups and be more focus in assembling process. For the design, we have made some adjustment to ensure that th
e legs can walk smoothly by exchange the components used. As a result, the legs can be functioned. for the programming, we asked a member from other group to helped us in order to improve the programming. So that, it will suite with what we have decided earlier. Below is the Little Cute Humanoid that can be functioned properly.

Second Project in Classroom...

Lifting & Recycle Task:
"Pick Up Bot.."

Concept:


For this week, we need to build up a robot that can lift things and recycle for a few times. The design of the robot is high to bring up things to the higher place. The based have to be stable so that we made up a wider base. Then, we create the program which enable it to do the same task for a few times. There are few sensor that we have used which are ultrasonic sensor and light sensor. The ultrasonic will functioned as To see the object and the light sensor will choose the red ball and bring it to some distance that we have decided.

Problems statement:


During the lifting task, problem occur which the software had been wrongly set that makes the robot change the colour of the target. It pick the blue ball which is wrong. After we analyze the problems, it shows that the sensor was damage.

Problem Solving:

So, to solve the problem, we decide to change the ultrasonic sensor with the other. Then, we reset the programming. By that the sensor can identify the true object which is red ball. By all that, we realized that it is important to check either the sensor can function properly or not.

As a group we all enjoy the activities and we have learn things especially on the command of loop and timer. Besides that we also learn about the light sensor on how to read the value that enable the sensor to read true value. This is important because if the value is wrong, it will effect the reading.

First Projects in Classroom..

For this week, we had accomplished robotics projects based on some themes such as “Tug of War” and “Attacking”

Tug of War


Concept:

Under this theme, we had to build up a robot that could hold and pull the opponent to our side. We had built up a robot named Puller Girl Bot that focus based on the stabilization sector. Our target is to ensure that the robot is stabilize and strong in its design. So that, the parts on its body will not broken when it pull other robot. We put bigger tyres at the back so that it will have power to pull the opponent team.

Problems statement:


When we built up the robot, at first, we found that the robot was not stable to hold and pull the opponent in the competition, so we had decided to rebuilt the structure, and that make us as the last group to finish the project. We had make some modification on the back tyres which we decided to put it at the front. So, when it pulled other robots, the front tyres will not pops up. Other than that, during the competition we realized that one of the most importance part was the weight of the robot. Those robots that have a heavy weight would potentially win if they have software that quite similar. If they have similar software, then the structure of the robots would be reason of winning.

Even our group had lost in that competition, we learn so many things especially on the programming and the factors that can effects the potential of the robots. We also had fun working together as a group and we hope we can improve on the next projects.

Attacking

Concept:

After the competition, we had been asked to design a robot for attacking. We have to
build up a robot that could be attack or defend according to the situation. The design of robot can influence the effectiveness of that particular robot. In develop this robot, we had give special focus on the area of the robot, the weight and the weapons. It should stable and strong enough to defend itself while attacking other robots.


Problems statement:


When the war begins, we found that we have lots of weaknesses that we have to improve. The first problem that we met on the war was the weight of our robot was a bit light that makes the rest could defeat us. Besides, our weapon was wrongly set up. It should run through the anti-clockwise but we made up with the clockwise running that terribly brings the opponent to push us outside from the arena of war.


Problem Solving:

To solve the problems, we had made some modification on our robots. to increase it's weight, we have adding some more components. besides that, we also make adjustment at it's weapons which rebuilt it again. Then, we had won one of the battle. That was very exciting. Everyone's were shouting at their robots and show their group spirits.
